Wesley United Methodist Church in Aurora will host a pop-up, drive-through groceries giveaway by Aurora Area Interfaith Food Pantry.

It will take place from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 2, in the church parking lot, 14 N. May St.

The event is first-come, first-served. Identification and registration are not required.

In addition to groceries, laundry detergent, toilet paper, eggs, frozen meat and school supplies collected by Zion Lutheran Church in Naperville will be distributed.

Rebecca Dunnigan, community impact manager at Aurora-based Interfaith, made the announcement.

Volunteers will distribute items from a truck.

Interfaith mobile pantries visit parking lots at churches, schools, libraries and senior and low-income residences.

Mobile-pantry partners with Interfaith are Fox Valley Park District and Blessings in a Backpack of Chicago.

Patrons do not need to leave their vehicles to claim food. Pantry volunteers observe pandemic safety procedures when loading bags of groceries and household items valued at $100 into patrons' vehicles.
